Garnet
Origin-: Comes from the Latin word “granatus” (seed-like) because it looks similar to pomegranate seed.
Color-: Shades of green, beige, brown, grey and blue, but in Incandescent light, it appears reddish or purple pink.
Varieties-:
- Pyrope(Bohemian Garnet or Cape Ruby):Deep red, orange r
- Almandine: Red to violet r
- Spessartine: Yellow, Rose, Orange.
- Uvaranite:
- Grossular: White, yellow, black, orange, brown, yellowish green, dark green.
- Andraite: Colorless ,yellowish green, emerald green, brown to black(Demantoid Garnet).
- Rhodolite: Purplish r
Streak-: White.
Mohs Hardness 6.5 to 7.5.
